CLB Scholarship- $1,000
The CLB Scholarship honors the memory of Cheryl Breitbach, a dedicated physical education teacher who inspired generations of students in Park Rapids elementary schools. Cheryl was not only a passionate educator but also a devoted supporter of Panther sports and activities. She firmly believed in the transformative power of athletics and extracurricular involvement, encouraging students to strive for excellence in all aspects of life.
Cheryl's commitment to fostering a love for physical activity and her unwavering support for student growth made her a cherished figure in the community. This scholarship continues her legacy by recognizing student-athletes who embody her values—excelling in academics, contributing to extracurricular activities, and demonstrating their full potential both on and off the field.

John Schumacher Memorial Scholarship- $1,000
Scholarship Criteria

Applicant must further their education by attending a vocational, technical or 2-4 year college program.

Applicant must be a good standing citizen, have leadership skills & participate in a minimum of 1 sport during their junior & senior year and additional extracurricular activities throughout high school.

Applicant must have a minimum GPA of 3.00 and have attended Park Rapids Schools, full time, their junior & senior years.

Applicant that receives the scholarship, must provide a transcript after completion of their 1st semester at a post-secondary school to receive payment.

John B. Skeffington Scholarship
1. Earning good grades (3.0 GPA or better), having a studious nature, and being a good citizen in class (behavior and participation) shall be the major considerations for selecting the winner of this scholarship.
2. Financial need may be used as a criteria for determining the winner, but it is not a necessity.
3. Participation in school activities such as chess club, media (library) club, Knowledge Bowl, math team, annual staff, school newspaper, school plays, speech, or any other non-athletic activity that indicates that the recipient has given of their own time and energy to the school and/or their class shall be considered a plus.
4. No student who has chosen post-secondary option courses away from the high school shall be considered. (i.e. a student attending college courses full time at a college, PSEO)
5. Students who have attended Park Rapids High School during all of grades 9-12 shall be given priority in selection.
6. No winner shall have participated in team sports such as basketball, football, hockey or volleyball or have been a cheerleader.
7. The winner may have participated in individual sports such as track, golf, tennis, or swimming, but this is neither a requirement nor a selection criteria.

Al and Ruth Monico Memorial Scholarship- $500
- Pursue a degree in agriculture, industrial technology or related programs, or education.
- Based on HS performance demonstrated the potential ability to be successful in a post-secondary program.

DSG Education Connection Fund Scholarship- $1,250
The award is for students going into trade industries.
Dakota Supply Group has established the DSG Education Connection Fund to provide scholarships for those who wish to join the trade industries. The scholarship in the amount of five hundred dollars ($500) is being offered to a Park Rapids graduate who is planning to attend a vocational-technical or trade school. Park Rapids Garden Club Scholarship
The Park Rapids Garden Club is offering a $750 scholarship for high school graduates (or former graduates) who reside in Hubbard County. The scholarship is designated to financially assist students interested in pursuing a career in horticulture. Other disciplines related to Horticulture such as Landscape Design/architecture or Agriculture will also be considered.

- Must pursue post secondary education at two-year or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school in the fall following graduation

Nolan Hanson Scholarship
A scholarship in the amount of $5,000 is being offered to a Park Rapids graduate who is planning to attend a vocational, technical or trade school.

The Charles & Donna Lord Memorial Scholarship- $500

Compose a one-page essay on why you decided to pursue a degree in business, leadership or entrepreneurship. Explain how you plan to lead others and create a positive impact within your community through your future degree. Think of this essay as your, “Sales Pitch” on why you should be selected over your peers.

CRITERIA:

Based on High School performance, student must have demonstrated the potential ability to succeed in a post secondary program.

This $500 scholarship is available to a graduating senior from Park Rapids High School.

Cosmotology
Bonnie Carpenter Memorial Scholarship
Bonnie Carpenter owned and operated Bon-Sheri Salon of Beauty in Park Rapids for 40 years opening the business in 1963. Bonnie loved her profession and employed many of the local cosmetologists.
Requirements:

This scholarship will be awarded to a Park Rapids Area High School graduate after successful completion of a cosmetology program and receiving their cosmetology license.

The senior must graduate from Park Rapids High School and enroll in a cosmetology program within six months of graduating from high school.

The recipient will receive the scholarship money upon showing proof of a license in cosmetology to the high school guidance counselor.

Write a short essay on the importance of receiving this scholarship and why you want to have a career in cosmetology. Also, include a list of any school, church, community involvement and work experience.

American Legion Auxiliary Unit 212: 2- $750 scholarships
Applicant must:
- be in financial need
- have a family member that is a member of the American Legion Auxiliary or a Vet
- must have at least a "C" average
- have good character with ambition to continue their education
Scholarship will be given out after completion of a semester of college. Funds will be released on proof of a college transcript.

Frazee Family Scholarship- $2,000
Criteria:
- Must have financial need
- Must be a senior eligible to graduate from Park Rapids Area High School
- Must show proof of enrollment in a post-secondary educational program

Theodore J. Haberer Memorial Scholarship
This $1000 Scholarship is given in memory of Ted Haberer a Park Rapids graduate, a pharmacist and member of the Park Rapids community for many years. It was his wish to start this scholarship for a deserving Park Rapids High School graduate.
Criteria:
- Attends a college or university in the State of Minnesota or North Dakota State University, Fargo, ND
- must be a graduating senior from Park Rapids Area High School
- must show financial need for this scholarship
- must have demonstrated potential ability to succeed in post secondary education
- must show proof of enrollment in a college of university
- As many $1000 scholarships as possible will be given annually based on the current interest accrual.

Carol Mae Oxtra-Schrum Scholarship- $1,000
This award will be given to a student with integrity, a positive outlook, a strong work ethic and in good academic standing- a B average or above.
The student must be going to a 2 or 4 year college or university to receive this award.
The recipient will be selected based on teacher nomination and scholarship committee decision.
If chosen for the award, the recipient must write a note stating what school they will be attending, what they plan to major/study in, and what profession they hope to have. The chosen student also needs to include a portion of thanks. This should be mailed to the following address:

Jessanna Goodwater Memorial Scholarship
Jessanna Goodwater was a 2001 PRAHS graduate who was panther pride through and though. She also exemplified characteristics such as drive and determination, heart, kindness, resilience, school spirit and good sportsmanship. Her positivity and humor were contagious and she lived by the motto "Live Well, Laugh Often, Love Much".
In her memory, 2 $500 scholarships will be awarded to 2 students who possess those same qualities.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Completed application form returned to the school counselor by April 24th.
- Letter of recommendation from a teacher, employer, mentor, peer, advisor or other non-family member
- Personal statement as to how you have demonstrated any of those same characteristics in your life

Rod Garden Memorial Vocational Scholarship
Requirements:

This scholarship will be awarded to a Park Rapids Area High School senior who has been accepted to a two year college, vocational school, or private career school.

The Park Rapids Class of 1963 will provide two $400.00 scholarships for the graduating class of Park Rapids Area High School.
- Attend and pursue vocational instruction at any accredited college, community college or vocational school
- Scholarship will be awarded for the second semester after successful completion of the first full time semester

Kyle Vredenburg Memorial Scholarship- $1,000 Scholarship
This is a one-time scholarship for high school seniors in Park Rapids, Nevis, LaPorte and Walker-Hackensack-Akeley.
The applicant must:
- be pursuing a degree in at an accredited institution of higher education.
- support Safety, Conservation, Preservation and Sharing of the Forests and Trails in safe friendly practices for the sport of ATVs and their usage.
- hold a current ATV Safety Education Certificate.
- Demonstrate leadership among their peers.
- be involved in school activities and/or demonstrate community involvement.
- complete all the application requirements listed in application.

Healthcare
Allina Health Orthopedics Sports Medicine Scholarship
Two $2,500.00 scholarships are available and will be awarded to one male and one female graduating high school student athlete who intend to pursue a professional career in sports medicine.
Qualified candidates should demonstrate leadership, be actively involved in their community and interscholastic sports and achieve academic success.
As health care providers and professionals, we are committed to delivering unsurpassed patient care, providing patient education, and are actively engaged in research to benefit the public and the health care community. The recipients of these scholarships should demonstrate similar qualities and interests which will allow them to be successful in the pursuit of a career in sports medicine.
Criteria:
1. Graduating high school senior from the state of Minnesota.
2. Planning on attending a four-year college or university within the United States.
3. Involved in an interscholastic sport each of their 4 years in high school.
4. Intending to major in a field related to sports medicine.

CHI St. Joseph’s Health Graduating Senior Scholarship - $1,000 scholarship awards are available to graduating seniors from the communities of Park Rapids, Nevis, Walker-Hackensack-Akeley, Laporte, Menahga, Sebeka or home school who are going onto college, or accredited vocational school, pursuing careers in health care.
CHI St. Joseph’s Health/Brian Koria Scholarship - $1,000 scholarship awards funded by CHI St. Joseph’s Health co-workers in memory of Brian Koria, is available to graduating seniors who are pursuing education in the medical field. Graduates need to be from the communities of Park Rapids, Nevis, Walker-Hackensack-Akeley, Laporte, Menahga, Sebeka or home school
CHI St. Joseph’s Health/Laurie Hohnstadt Scholarship- Park Rapids Only This $1,000 scholarship is available to a Park Rapids High School senior who plans to pursue a registered nursing degree.
Students may apply for more than one scholarship.
*Students will need to email in a professional photo, ACT scores (if you did not take the ACT, let them know that), transcripts, and letter of recommendation. This is indicated on the Google application as well.
The Scholarship Application deadline is Friday, April 4th, 2025.
Else Undem Hinds Memorial Scholarship
Criteria:

Must be a senior at Park Rapids Area High School and will major in nursing

May be enrolled at a two-year or four-year college. Both are equivalent.

The amount of the scholarship is $400.00 payable to the school after the first semester of coursework.

Essentia Health Scholarship- $1,000
Essentia Health West Market will award a $1,000 scholarship to a graduating high school senior, continuing education in a healthcare related field (whose major interest is in the field of science and/or medicine).
Awards shall be based upon good character, scholastic achievement and promise, citizenship, personality, and seriousness of purpose, as evidenced by school recommendations, academic records, and individual application process of high school.
The applicant may attend any vocational school, technical college, college, or university that provides training for completion of a degree program or specialized medical training program such as LPN, RN, surgical tech, radiology tech or laboratory specialty training programs.
Write a short essay (200-300 words) on why you are interested in pursuing a degree in the health sciences/medicine? What are your career goals?

Mounted Sheriff's Posse Scholarship, Hubbard County - $1,000- Several Awards
To be eligible, students must:
1) Be going into Law Enforcement/ Legal Systems/ Forensics
2) Have a reasonable GPA
3) Live in Hubbard County
4) Be a senior in HS or have graduated HS in the last year

Membership Scholarships
Forest Riders Snowmobile Club- $1,000
ELIGIBILITY
Park Rapids High School Senior planning to attend any post-secondary education. Will need to show your involvement with the snowmobile industry. Applicant should show proof of service work to better the snowmobile industry OR be a snowmobile club member (family or individual membership).
AWARD
$1,000 awarded after the start of the first year of post-secondary education.

Foundation for Rural Service (FRS) Scholarship
One $2000 scholarship will be awarded per geographic region of the NTCA membership, with an additional $500 match from Arvig Communications. To be eligible, students must:
- Be accepted into a 2 or 4 year college, university or vocational-technical school
- Be sponsored by a current NTCA member (Arvig)
- Have at least a C grade point average (2.0 GPA)
- Express an interest to return to a rural community following graduation.
- Applicant's family must subscribe to at least one service from Paul Bunyan Communications (PBC) Cooperative.

Osage Sportsmen Club Scholarship- 2 Awards- $500
- The 1st award will be open to anyone, but we would like a short essay about what the students want to do after high school.
- For the 2nd award, the student must go into a field of service: nurses, EMTs, doctors, police, or military. Also, this year if the recipient is going into the military, we will defer their scholarship 1 calendar year. So if they are in basic training and start college later, we will hold their scholarship 1 calendar year.
- Based on high school performance, students must have demonstrated the potential ability to succeed in post-secondary education pursuits.

Paul Bunyan Communications Scholarship- 2- $500
Each year, Paul Bunyan cooperative provides at least 2, $500 scholarships to 12 area high schools within or near our service territory. The application process, winners, and distribution of funds are handled by each high school independent of Paul Bunyan Communications.

TruStar Federal Credit Union Scholarship
This scholarship recognizes scholastic achievement and community involvement amongst our members.
Eligibility Requirements
❑ A member of TruStar Federal Credit Union (An account in the student’s name.)
❑ Senior in a participating High School
❑ A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
❑ Attending a 2 or 4 year college/technical school in the fall of 2025
Please submit the following with your application
❑ Unofficial high school transcripts
❑ Letter of acceptance to college or technical institution
o Or letter of intent with acceptance letter provided before disbursement of funds.
❑ A brief 100- to 300- word essay describing why the student is deserving of a TruStar sponsored scholarship. Students are encouraged to include their volunteer activities, plans for a major in college (if known) and career aspirations.

MAHUBE-OTWA Head Start Scholarship
ELIGIBILITY FOR THE $500 SCHOLARSHIPS:
Students in area high schools who attended MAHUBE-OTWA Head Start or Early Head Start and are accepted to an accredited 1, 2 or 4-year college.
Deadline: March 29, 2025.
Military or Child of a Veteran
Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Chapter #38/DAV Auxiliary Unit #38 Scholarship- $1,000
Requirements:
• The person must be a senior from the DAV #38 area who is 21 or younger.
• Applicant must be a son/daughter, brother/sister, grandson/granddaughter or great grandson/granddaughter of a veteran.
• Scholarship can be used at any accredited institution of higher learning; including universities, colleges, community colleges, vocational schools, etc.
• Scholarships will be awarded during the second semester of their freshman year.
• Scholarship will be awarded based on the successful completion of their first semester/quarter as a full time student and achieving a grade point average of at least 3.0 and providing an enrollment form which shows the student has enrolled into the second quarter/semester of classes.
• All nomination packets need to include a recommendation letter from a teacher or counselor, high school transcript, essay and the name of your veteran relative you are eligible under.
• The applicant must interview a veteran, and write an essay describing what the veteran learned and/or gained from their experience in the military and how that experience has affected them later in civilian life (no more than 500 words).
• Do not write your name on the essay, they will be judged anonymously. Mail the essay with your name and address, the name and address of your school, and all other information on a separate sheet of paper to:

Star of the North Marine Corp Scholarship
1. Minimum 2.0 High School GPA
2. Must be a Graduating Senior
3. Must be enlisted to serve in a branch of the U.S. Military
4. Must be attending a university, community college, or technical college in the future.

Science, Technology, Engineering or Math
Arvig - Royale B. and Eleanor M. Arvig Memorial Scholarship- $3,000
The recipient must use the award to further their education in the field of math, engineering, telecommunications, accounting, computer science, or any of the physical sciences at the college of their choice.
Applicants should exhibit qualities of good citizenship, leadership and academic ability.
Payments are distributed in 4 equal payments of $750. Transcripts with first quarter grades from the college will be required to receive an award.

If a student changes his/her major to a program not listed, the scholarship will not be awarded.

One scholarship to a Park Rapids senior will be awarded.

The funds will be given after the first semester grades have been reported to the scholarship committee at ACS.

MN Telecom Alliance Foundation Scholarship Program:
This year the Foundation will award scholarships to high school seniors graduating in 2025. Each scholarship will be a one-time amount of $2,000. There are two types of scholarships this year:

One $3,000 Jon Tollefson Technology Scholarship: To be eligible, applicants must be a high school senior with plans to major in either Telecommunications or Information Technology (IT) at a university, college, or technical college and be a Minnesota resident.

One of six $2,000 General Scholarships: To be eligible, applicants must be a high school senior with plans on attending post-secondary education at a university, college, or technical college, be a Minnesota resident, and the applicant’s family must subscribe to at least one service from an MTA member company.
Once completed, this application must be printed and submitted to your local telephone company manager by February 14, 2025
